Youth Program Director

The Flats Platform Tennis Center in association with the Cleveland Platform Tennis Foundation is looking for an ambitious, creative and organized Director to help manage and develop the Youth Program. This program partners with local schools to provide after school platform tennis coaching to middle school and high school aged students.


Mission Statement: Flats Platform Tennis Center’s after school programs for middle and high school students offer a focus on academic success, exercise and healthy habits, and character-building experiences by introducing the game of platform tennis.


Position Type: Part Time

Location: The Flats Platform Tennis Center 1003 British St, Cleveland, OH 44113

Schedule: Weekdays approximately 10-12pm and 3-5pm. Varies depending on youth programming interest from schools and partners. Must be flexible. Some responsibilities to be handled outside of the program hours.

Pay: $25+ per hour based on experience


Essential Functions/Requirements:

● Candidates should be creative, organized, flexible, patient, respectful, reliable, motivated and enthusiastic

● Have a passion for working with kids ages 11-15

● Supervise, manage and recruit volunteers for the program

● Monitor program operations

● Effectively communicate and give feedback to the students on and off the court

● Organize and plan daily lessons geared towards middle school to high school aged students and run programming on-site

● Prep supplies and materials for special occasions and elevated lesson plans (i.e. first day ice breakers, last day awards, modified drills and training equipment, prizes, etc.)

● Assist and communicate with school liaison regarding “off court” activities as needed (i.e. in the event of inclement weather, injury, etc.)

● Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information

● Will be teaching Platform Tennis (as needed)

● Will complete online continuing education courses (as needed) geared towards safety, childhood development, athletic administration, and cultural diversity, equity and inclusion


Experience:


● Experience in coaching of any sport, preferred

● Has worked with students, preferred

● Experience with volunteer programs, preferred

● Leadership experience and a strong desire to serve as a positive role model for children is ideal


Onboarding Requirements:

● Background check and fingerprinting


Preferred (but not required) Certifications:

● CPR

● Professional Platform Tennis Registry (PPTR) certification
