It was a sunny and mild, if windy, scene on the afternoon of March 24, 2001. A small, masked and socially distanced group assembled in the parking lot of the Cleveland Rowing Foundation for a momentous occasion—the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Flats Platform Tennis Center.
The emcee for the event was Cleveland Platform Tennis Foundation Board Chair Sean Richardson. He introduced a half dozen speakers who had all been instrumental to getting to this point with the Flats paddle project.
